I’m Emily Doukogiannis, the founder and principal photographer here at Emily D. While I love the art and science of photography, my true passion – and gift – is the human side of this craft: getting to know a person and capturing them in their best light, exactly as they are.

Though I’ve had a lifelong interest in photography, it wasn’t until 2010 when I was searching for the perfect photographer for my wedding that I truly understood and started getting excited about the craft.

Then, when our family moved to Scotland in 2011, my appreciation of the power and importance of photos grew, and I knew I needed to pursue a formal education in photography. I studied at Ryerson and continue to hone and expand my skills every chance I get with annual master classes all over the world.

My business has grown steadily over the years and I’m proud to lead a team of photographers, editing professionals and other behind-the-scenes ‘helpers’ that shares my passion for telling stories through our work. We shoot on-location across Toronto (and beyond) and at our Leslieville studio.

My husband and I have two children (and one dog) and call East-end Toronto home – though, having grown up in Saint John, I’ll always be a Maritimer at heart.
